The Czech architectural studio Perspektiv describes its projects as ambitious, innovative, crossing boundaries and breaking norms. At present, the studio is expanding its field of work to public spaces and development projects, so for private residential interior designs, it’s now set up the new studio arkhe. Arkhe designs and creates unique homes from scratch to finish (from the first brick to the last little detail). Come take a peep at their magnificent work! We’ll let you in on the details of two beautiful projects, that we were lucky enough to be a part of.
When describing the project of a family apartment in the heart of the Bratislava in Slovakia, the architectural studio said, “Our client wanted his new place to form a ‘home base’ from which he and his family could travel the world indefinitely.” This led to a generous open space design that reflects the client's cosmopolitan way of life and combines historical elements with modern design.
“We furnished the apartment using the Design&Build method, which is similar to turnkey projects,” explained Kristýna Boková, Marketing Manager at Perspektiv & akrhe. Thanks to this, the architects could supervise over each and every phase of the project, and the entire rebuilding process ran smoothly.
Precise craftsmanship and well-chosen quality materials are apparent throughout the apartment and crown the first impression. Flooring and surfaces show off their original splendour; hardwood floors, coffered tiles and, in the kitchen and entrance hall, exotic stone from Brazil.
Implementing smart home technology into this interior, increased the comfort aspect. One particular smart home detail you’ll find in the bedroom, is that drapes can be pulled open or close at the wave of a hand! And smart lighting throughout the apartment, will help conjure up whatever mood you’re in for.
Carefully chosen materials and meticulously considered details provide a timeless base for all the home furnishings and accessories to come (the extras that Perspektiv studio focuses on). “Even during the photo shoot, we play around and style pieces to make the home look welcoming and lived in We are not fans of sterile interiors. As part of the final handover, we always like to give our clients a little gift- be it a designer vase or Lejaan bedding. It’s our way of saying happy new home and housewarming wishes,” explained Kristýna.
Selected Lejaan products complement this Bratislava apartment, too! Designers chose muted tones for the bedroom, picking the light grey Father's Playground collection together with the Woven Monocolour blanket. Towards the end of the interview Kristýna delighted us with the words, “When designing interiors we focus on the details – every centimeter must be used to its full potential, every joint must be perfect. We know Lejaan has a similar philosophy, and that’s why we love to include your products.”
Studio arkhe’s latest project was the timeless interior design of an Vinohrady apartment in Prague. Home to a family of three, this apartment reflects the history of the place, yet meets today's needs. The entire space was tailored to the family’s needs, every inch made to measure, using only first-class materials. Designed to look good and serves its purpose now and for decades to come.
Rather than sharp, straight edges, arkhe studio focuses on creating rounded shapes. "Rounded edges make the space flow better, both visually and physically. Plus, they’re more practical and are often more aesthetically pleasing," explained Ján Antal, co-founder of Perspektiv and arkhe studios. The wooden paneling in this interior is an example of soft-edge design. Alterations of the overall layout of the apartment meant a store room and full bathroom could be hidden behind it.
When designing the interior, the architects took great care to hide as many distracting elements as possible. The kitchen island, hides all the kitchen appliances and even has built-in furniture. Even the heating in this apartment is invisible, hidden behind a rattan weave. Lounge chairs by the Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret from the 1950s complement this design. Distinctive accessories, like the Bomma Orbital crystal lamps, Soda glass tables by Miniforms brand and the hand-knotted rug Gun Rug, enliven the apartment all the more.
Lejaan bed linen and throw blankets got to play a role in this interior, too. This time, the architects chose darker shades and muted colors for the bedroom to create a more cozy and calming atmosphere. An elegant detail in the bedroom is the profiled glass that lets in light, induces intimacy and divides the room into a sleeping and dressing area.
Studio arkhe aims to create interiors which will be a joy to live in. The apartment in Vinohrady is exactly that! “We don’t follow trends. We like to fill our interiors with natural materials that set off a beautiful patina, withstand daily use and bring joy for many years-(before, they’ll need re-sanding, staining or painting),” explained architect Ján Antal.
Studio Perspektiv is known for its experience in designing workplaces and community spaces. However, their expertise goes much further. In their projects, they pay particular attention to functionality and sustainability, always in search for the best solutions and pushing the status quo of contemporary architecture. This October, they presented their new brand arkhe – an architectural and design studio dedicated to residential projects for high-end clients. Their philosophy is based on an individual approach when planning each design and listening to the needs of their clients.
